FRESH KID ALERT: Maja Ivarsson

Maja Ivarsson, born 2 October 1979, is lead singer in the Swedish New Wave band "The Sounds" . Lead singer Maja Ivarsson is explicit about her ambition, claiming "I want to be the best female vocalist around...of at least this century".[1] She was featured on Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)", for the film Snakes on a Plane. Their debut album, Living in America, was recorded in Stockholm and produced by Adel Dahdal and Jimmy Monell. It earned them several "best newcomer" awards, a Grammis and a #4 position in the Swedish album charts, and established the band not only in Sweden but also in the United States. The band has played over 300 gigs since the album's release including participating in the 2004 Warped Tour. In 2006 they played again at Warped Tour, this time on main stage, and have toured with bands such as Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Morningwood, Angels & Airwaves, +44, Mando Diao and Panic! At The Disco. The second album, Dying to Say This to You, was recorded at Studio 880 in Oakland, California, and produced by Jeff Saltzman (producer of The Killers' Hot Fuss). On January 21 2009, it was announced that The Sounds will be a special guest on the No Doubt Summer Tour 2009, starting in May 2009 in outdoor amphitheaters and arenas across the U.S. and Canada. The Sounds also played a series of headline shows around the U.S. and Canada in late April and early May prior to joining the No Doubt tour. They currently are on their first headlining world tour!

Shoes, obviously. Shoes are like miniature sculptures/works of art to me. I really appreciate beautiful shoe design.
You certainly have a beautiful collection of shoes. Do you feel the functionality of a shoe important at all?
Not for every pair of shoes. Of course you need shoes that are practical for walking in, but it's true that the most aesthetically pleasing shoes are often the most impractical. I definitely take the 'closet appeal' factor into account when buying shoes. It's important to me that they look beautiful on my shoe shelves.

I'm buyin whatever she's selling! Just give us more pics! This Kate Moss look-a-like plastered on billboards far and wide definitely makes driving through the congested streets of L.A. so much more pleasurable. Right on Bebe!

Jamie Bochert for Lanvin Spring/Summer 2010 Ad

Jamie Bochert is not only doing the Rodarte for Target look book and the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign, she also poses for Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign…although you can’t see her face. The ad campaign was shot by Steven Meisel, according to WWD Lanvin’s artistic director, Alber Elbaz said, “I thought maybe we need a bit of action,” so the ad features Jamie Bochert rushing down a corridor in a New York studio. Pretty cool, do you like the first look?
